Finn Makes Breed History.
We are so delighted. Young Finn (Chanderhill Alfredo) and his owners Anna and Melvyn Parish have made breed history.
This weekend, Finn, who is just 17 months’ old, became the first male Spanish Water Dog to qualify for the Kennel Club’s Junior Warrant accolade. He gained his final point for the award by winning Best of Breed at Bank Holiday Monday’s Leicester City Canine Association Open Show.
Finn, who was born at Chanderhill in March last year, is the son of our foundation bitch, Burta (Burta Marinero Tesoro At Chanderhill), and of our dog, Otto (Otto De Aronagua Del Chanderhill).
This is the second time in just a few months that a SWD bred by us has qualified for the Junior Warrant. Back in June, our young bitch Pickle (Chanderhill Bit of a Pickle) passed the Junior Warrant milestone on her first birthday, the youngest ever SWD to qualify for the award.
The Junior Warrant is open to dogs and bitches between 6 and 18 months of age. Qualification for the award is by earning Junior Warrant points through performances at shows. To qualify, a dog or bitch had to earn a total of 25 points before it is 18 months’ old.
To date, a total of 4 SWDs including Finn, have been awarded Junior Warrants. Finn’s award is subject to Kennel Club confirmation.
